A Southern Romance for Two Snow Birds | Portsmouth, NH Engagement Shoot
So excited. So excited. SO EXCITED!!!! Today we are featuring one of our all-time favorite couples and their recent engagement photo shoot. Meet Katie and Jeff! This soon-to-be wedded couple will be getting married on September 2, 2017 at the Woodstock Inn Station and Brewery in New Hampshire.
If you are anything like us, then you are a sucker for a love story that just pulls at your heart strings. We have a feeling your heart will be feeling a little tug after you read what Katie had to say about how she and Jeff met:
"We met in Fayetteville, North Carolina, where Jeff was attending college at Methodist University, and I was attending the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in 2010. We always found this so coincidental since we are both from New England, and grew up only an hour and a half away from each other.
Jeff and some of his college friends lived in the apartment below my brother, Matt, (who also is one of our groomsmen) and sister-in-law, Sara, (my Matron of Honor). One weekend Matt struck up a conversation with Jeff after seeing a Boston Bruins logo in their apartment, then realizing they were both from New England. After hanging out that night, I got a text from Sara. 'Katie, I think I found your future husband. He's perfect for you!'
The following weekend, I went to visit my brother and sister-in-law. Jeff and his friends were invited up to hangout, which was the first time we actually met. We clicked instantly and the rest is history..."
RIGHT?!?!?! Love these two. Obviously after hearing their story about how they met we HAD to hear how Jeff proposed:
"We got engaged on December 23, 2015. We decided that instead of doing gifts for Christmas, we were going to go do an overnight somewhere instead. At the beginning of that week, I got an email from Jeff with an attached "packing list." After reading it, I saw that ice skates were on the list, and knew instantly that we were going to Boston because we've always wanted to skate on Frog Pond.
On the day of, we were ready and packed to drive to Boston, but I was still not told what else we were doing! We arrived in Boston in the early afternoon, headed to Frog Pond and skated for a little while. While we were there, Jeff told me we were staying at the Langham Hotel for the night, which is where we went to celebrate a previous anniversary at their AMAZING chocolate bar (but that's beside the point).
We checked in, and brought our bags to the room. We were upgraded to the very top floor of the hotel, and I was first to open the door. Mind you, I had no clue, not even the tiniest bit of an inkling that anything was going to happen. I opened the door, and I first saw roses on our bed that spelled out "I love you," then I saw a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. (I WAS STILL CLUELESS!) I had my back turned to Jeff, putting down my bags and said, "Wow, they really do a great job in these rooms for Christmas, huh?" (Still clueless!) Jeff then says, "Well, here's your real Christmas present." As I'm turning around I say "what?" and see him down on one knee. He asks me to marry him, and OF COURSE I say YES (but not without asking if he is serious about 20 times first).
We enjoyed our engagement to ourselves for a little while, and then shared the news with our family and friends! We then enjoyed a wonderful dinner at a restaurant that Jeff made reservations for, and let it sink in that WE ARE GETTING MARRIED!!!!"
GAH!!!! Good job, Jeff!!!! Ummmm. But we are still hung up on that chocolate bar! Mental note: Langham Hotel. Anyways! We are positive Katie and Jeff's rustic burgundy, burlap, and lace wedding is going to be nothing short of amazing!
Future wedding details aside, let's get to the present: Katie and Jeff's adorable engagement session! These two are real naturals in front of the camera. Their good looks, fabulous outfit choices, a sublime location and their genuine love for each other made this photo shoot one of our favorites! And obviously the ever so talented Laura Leigh O'Ceallaigh may have lent a helping hand or two to the incredible photos.
Here's to many, many happy years together and we can't wait to celebrate with you next September!!
